American Idol gets Beatlemania
American Idol gets Beatlemania
from E news!
It's been a hard day's night for American Idol, but the show finally has a ticket to ride.
The music publisher that controls the Beatles' John Lennon-Paul McCartney composed hits has given Idol the go-ahead to let its contestants have their way with the likes of "Yesterday," "Let It Be" and, should someone be so brave, "I Am the Walrus."
The scoop was served up Wednesday on Idol host Ryan Seacrest's morning radio show in Los Angeles.
"It's something we've waited for for seven seasons now," Idol executive producer Nigel Lythgoe told Seacrest. "Sony has agreed to release the Lennon and McCartney songbook to us."
The announcement seems unrelated to current Idol favorite David Archuleta belting "Imagine" on Tuesday night's show. "Imagine" was written by Lennon, sans McCartney, at the start of his solo career, and was performed last season by Blake Lewis.
The songs that Idol has come into belong to Sony/ATV Music Publishing, a company formed by Industry giant Sony and pop legend Michael Jackson.
(Lennon, who died in 1980, and McCartney long ago lost control of their own Fab Four-era hits.)
On the Sony/ATV website, there are more than 180 songs listed that are credited to either:
Lennon-McCartney; McCartney, minus Lennon; Lennon-McCartney with Starkey (aka Ringo Starr); and Lennon-McCartney with Starkey and Harrison (as in George).
It was not immediately known if Idol has dibs on all of those songs.
Last year, when it was reported that Idol was planning a Beatles night, Ken Warwick, another executive producer, told USA Today that "certain songs are still off-limits." As things turned out, the whole deal fell through, and Idol ended up with a curiously Beatle-free British Invasion night.
The Sony/ATV Beatles songs run from A, as in "A Day in the Life," to Y, as in "Your Mother Should Know." They do not include standards penned solely by Harrison, including "Something" and "Here Comes the Sun."
Still, from "Oh, Darling" to "In My Life," there's plenty of material for Idol hopefuls to soar with or butcher, whichever the case may be.

Tina Fey on SNL "Woman today feel perfectly free to make whatever choice Oprah tells them to."
Oh man I must have fell asleep during this segment. Tina Fey was host of Saturday Night Live last Night. Here Tina, goes to Bat for Hillary on Weekend Update. This is too funny, I kid you not watch for yourself. She calls it like she see's it, very good Tina! On point~
I also might add, hell yeah, that rawked, FINALLY someone who is keepin it real out in the media here via Telly, Tina is the first person on Telly or in the media to keep it real without all the BS!~ hype
who has been spoon feeding the country. Not only that people actually believing all the bs smack that they are hearin- that was real talk, on Tina's part, Brillant! On Point, again!
FYI. NBC cut the video on youTube stating copywrite violations,, ahhh damn!~ and this was a brillant lil video too, the one in it's entirety, I mean. What does NBC have to hide anyways by not letting the world see the entire video? Would it be Christy Alley in the foreground shot?.. Tina Feys opening statement is crucial to the comedy sketch, why? Tina's has you speechless with her powereful opening statement, that's why, her opening statement was this:
"And finally, the most important Women’s News item there is, we have our first serious female presidential candidate in Hillary Clinton"
Feb25
Hey people, I originally posted the Tina Fey scandal comedy sketch yesterday around 10:30am
now the vid is completely down-"how convenient" here is what Tina Fey says verbatim, well almsot without the "Nun" bit, this was classic and probably some of the BEST of Saturday Night ever. see above
Tina Fey comes back to the Weekend Update anchor desk to speak to women’s issues, including the candidacy of Hillary Clinton.
FEY: And finally, the most important Women’s News item there is, we have our first serious female presidential candidate in Hillary Clinton. And yet, women have come so far as feminists, that they don’t feel obligated to vote for a candidate just because she’s a woman.
Women today feel perfectly free to make whatever choice Oprah tells them to.
Which raises the question, why are people abandoning Hillary for Obama?
Some say that they’re put off by the fact that Hillary can’t control her husband, and that we would end up with co-presidents. ‘Cause that would be terrible, having two intelligent, qualified people working together to solve problems.
Ugh. Why would you let Starsky talk to Hutch? I wanna watch that show, Starsky. You know, what is it, America?
What is it, are you weirded out that they’re married? ‘Cause I can promise you that they are having exactly as much sex with each other as George Bush and Jeb Bush are.
Then there is the physical scrutiny of her physical appearance. Rush Limbaugh, the Jeff Conaway of right wing radio, said that he doesn’t think America is ready to watch their president quote “turn into an old lady in front of them.” Really?
They didn’t seem to mind when Ronald Reagan did that. Maybe what bothers me the most is that people say that Hillary is a bitch. Let me say something about that: Yeah, she is. And so am I and so is this one.
POEHLER: Yeah, deal with it.
FEY: Know what? Bitches get stuff done. It's npt to late Texas and Ohio get on board Bitch is the new Black! wooohooo!

No duet for Macca and Ozzy at Brits
No duet for Macca and Ozzy at Brits
Dang, so there will be no fabby duet between Paul McCartney & Ozzy Osborne. Paul opting out for a lil melody of his own tunes (darn). If this was not bad enough Kylie Minogue is giving Paul his Outstanding Contribution To Music award. Can we ask why?
You Remember Kylie's dreadful if not horrible duet with Macca on New Years singing
"Dance Tonight" wasn't? I believe and old friend such as Chrissie Hynde a GREAT artist & musicain is better suited to give Macca this honour. Who the heck thought and agreed to this idea anyways? how sad~
Dance Tonight-Paul McCartney & Kylie Minogue
see video above and hear what I'm talkin about. I'm sorry, but I think she just ruined this song. what do you think?
update :
so Paul was the one too hand pick Kylie? see interview below.
Sir Paul McCartney on Brits honour
Natalie Jamieson Radio 1 Entertainment reporter
As a BBC journalist, everything I do should be fair and unbiased.
I wholeheartedly subscribe to that - except I love The Beatles. And Johnny Depp. He's OK too.
The Beatles, rightly so I feel, earned their number one place in a 2004 Rolling Stone poll as The Greatest Artists of All Time.
Bearing that in mind, I was feeling a little intimidated about interviewing Sir Paul McCartney the week before his divorce hearing began.
The "H" word was not to be mentioned at all (while we ordinarily refuse any such interview conditions - there were legal implications regarding their 4-year-old daughter so it was deemed acceptable).
it's good to get any award, any time, any place, any where.
This was to discuss Macca getting the Outstanding Contribution honour at the Brit Awards 2008.
When I asked if the award means a lot to him, bearing in mind the Spice Girls beat him to it, he looks quizzical: "Have they? Wow."
Is he surprised by that? "No, I think it's deeply honourable."
'Euphemism'
Thankfully he's grinning: "No listen it's great, it's good to get any award, any time, any place, any where. Cinzano."
"It's not Lifetime Achievement, I try and avoid those because it feels like you're going to die the next second, so it's called Outstanding Contribution. It's a euphemism."
We meet at his personal office in central London - a suitably large room that has a huge desk/dining/meeting table, a couple of cream sofas, a kitchenette, some priceless art and an enormous picture of Rupert the Bear and friends.
He clearly harbours no bad feelings towards working with the cartoon bear on the Frog Chorus' We All Stand Together. It's reassuring.
So, can he pick out his highlights from the various stages of his career; Beatles, Wings and solo ventures.
"That's such a big question," he says. (I am aware of this but don't want to interrupt)
Collaborations
"I think The Beatles did so much good stuff and it's great because I don't have to be modest because it's done.
"And a lot of it wasn't my work, it was all collaborations. A Day in the Life was fantastic.
"I think Hey Jude was a cool record, there's so many, Come Together, Penny Lane, Strawberry Fields, Here Comes the Sun, Lady Madonna."
"Wings I think did some really cool records. I think Band on the Run was really nice, I like My Love, Jet and some of the lesser known stuff from Wings is cool.
"And then from my solo stuff I've been very lucky and made one or two good records.
"I liked Chaos and Creation, I liked Pipes of Peace, I like Tug of War, I like my new album, Memory Almost Full. I'm very lucky."
Hand-picked
Sir Paul's pleased that Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne are hosting the Brits as it will be like "old mates" on stage.
If you do one of those duets, I'm not sure the audience likes them as much.
He won't reveal who's presenting his Outstanding Contribution prize but will say he hand-picked that person and they were his first choice.
As for what he'll be performing on the night; "When you do these shows people do say 'Oh, he'll pull something special out.'
"But it's like ten minutes so we'll just be doing a couple of hits." No duets then.
"I think if you do one of those duets, I'm not sure the audience likes them as much as you just doing one of your hits.
No duet rule
I think if I was watching the Rolling Stones, seeing Mick (Jagger) duet with Amy (Winehouse), it would be kind of interesting but I'd probably rather he did Satisfaction."
The photo's the last order of business and I even get a hug. As I leave I can't help unprofessionally blurting out how I'm pleased he didn't turn out to be a w***er.
Luckily Sir Paul laughs.

On the Grammy's Paul McCartney, Amy Winehouse
On the Grammy's Paul McCartney, Amy Winehouse
Hiya, may I be blunt here people? You know I'm gonna be hella pissed if Paul McCartney does not win a Grammy from "Memory Almost Full". Since Paul's people have not bothered to post or update Pauls youtube channel, namely "Only Mama Knows" on youtube, I'm posting
"Ever present past" for Pauls Grammy nods. Do you think Paul is long over due to receive an award from them Grammy's?
Ever Present Past-Paul McCartney
Whats with em Gram's anyways? do they have something against Paul or what? It's been years since he has received such an honor, instead they are giving away Grammy's like candy to BS music based on record sales? OK, I might be wrong a lil there, but this is how I'm feelin it.
Remember when the Grammy's were exciting to watch at one time? (maybe not, lol) It's rumoured that a Beatles tribute is in the works? ( Let us not forget that horrible tribute to the Beatles on American Idol) crossing fingers, hopefully a much more polished effort will be presented, an give the Beatles some loving justice on the musics highest honour night.
Now, will the Beatles be getting some Love and a Grammy reguarding the Beatles Love? Yes, do reread this agian. It would be brillant if Paul & Ringo were honoured at the Grammy's for once, it has been a long time, wishing Paul & Ringo, much luck tonight. Now let me get onto Amy Winehouse.
Let me show some Love for Amy Winehouse
You know, last month or so I was really disappointed in the Grammy nomination offered to Amy Winehouse for that dreadful "Rehab" tune. Yes, I have tried to like it but find this song awfully faulty, if not irratating. I did however listen to Amy Winehouse and her music yesterday with some thought and an opened heart. Man can this girl sing? Hell Yes! What a soulful, smooth, bluesy singer, the girls got voice.
Back to Black BBC sessions Amy Winehouse
This is one of those types of voices that comes around every so often. I listened to
"Back to Black" from the album of the same name and was kinda blown away. Alright, I was with the haunting vocal of "blacckk, Blacccckk" What a brillant voice, this girly is reminiscent of the 40's 50's & 60's Holiday,Vaughn, Etta. The song Back to Black is destined to be a classic.
I'm really diggin the 60's vibe of this tune. Iv'e been sayin for the last few years I had wished this sound would come back, that of the 60's , 70's soul, blues, & funk. I like back to black and all it's metaphors, such a haunting, disturbing, emotional song. Amy does deserve a Grammy for this lil gem. I'm also liken" Love is a loosin game"
I'm hoping on a personal level she kicks the drugs, gains twenty and gets her hair "back to black". No, (I didn't post that as a joke either ) liken the blonde high-light she had tho. This young girl has raw talent, a voice of emtion, one of the BEST female voices I have heard in years.
Hopefully she will check herself, and get tired of all that drag~ wishin Amy some peace.

psst the Grammy's are on Tonight 8pm on the west coast
Grammy High lights ......
So Amy Winehouse wins "Song of the year" with Rehab ~ uhhh awfull, also "best new artist" that's cool. The shock and look on Amy Winehouse's faces as she stood there waiting from London, after her performance she was stunned she won record of the year that look was priceless! She gave a shot out to her hubby who is incarcerated, nice one Amy~..lol
one other side note 50 cent is better than Kayne West, yep!
Ringo, Yoko, Olivia Harrison, and Barbara Bach were sitting together in the audiance a quick shot of them before the introduction of the Beatles trib. The Tribute to the Beatles was ok, with the Cirque De Soliel doing " A Day in the Life" segment from Beatles Love. Also "Let it be"- from Across The Universe, lead off by a young man who sang it quite beautifully including gospel singers, who were pretty powerful.
However it felt unfinished and I felt the Grammy's could have done better giving tribute to the Greatest band that ever lived..
Ohh very cool beans, George Martin wins Grammy for "Beatles Love" "All you need is love"-(best song, off a sound track ?) Ok, I lost that one lol-
Best performance at the Grammy's so far The Foo Fighters-Pretender who rawked the freakin house including orchestra that was a brillant performance!.
Quote of the night Vince Gil on receiving his Grammy::
" I just had an award given to me by a Beatle? Have you ever had that, Kanye?"
told him Vince, huh? that was a goodin...lol more on Kayne, quoted Bakstage with Herbie Hancock :
"Kanye and I are cool," he said. "I saw him earlier, and I said 'Good luck!' and he said 'I'd love to wish you good luck ... but I don't want you to get album of the year." source billboard
Gee, and Kanye West isn't arrogant? congrats to Herbie Hancoks Grammy win for album of the year, who also gave a awesome performance last night in the battling piano set with? (sorry donot know the guys name he was playing with?) other brillant performances were Tina Turner & Beyonce and of course Amy Winehouse~

Beatles Guru Mahareshi passes away this past week
Beatles Guru Mahareshi passes away this past week
In 1968 the Beatles and a hanful of friends took a spiritual trip to India. Here they met with the Mahareshi Mahash Yogi in their walk to spiritual enlightment. Paul & Ringo have both expressed their sadness over his death with statements:
^
says Paul
"I will never forget the dedication that he wrote inside a book he once gave me, which read 'radiate, bliss, consciousness', and that to me says it all. I will miss him but will always think of him with a smile."
Ringo adds, "One of the wise men I met in my life was the Maharishi. I always was impressed by his joy and I truly believe he knows where he is going."
Sext Sadie-The Beatles
Rumour has it Sexy Sadie describes John Lennon's total dissatisfaction with the Maharishi. While at his retreat, it has been said that the Maharishi attempted to bed Mia Farrow. Once The Beatles learned of this, they immediately went to the Maharishi, and Lennon announced they were all leaving.
The Maharishi asked why? Lennon said, "If you're so cosmic, you'll know why." Was this true or just a play of words, and double speak by John?

Drugs Politics and Musicians
Drugs Politics and Musicians
Damn I had just written this whole post and my computer closed all the damn windows, so I'm rewriting this now. I will try and make this post as simple as possible cutting to the chase.
I was just on Blog Catolog a few hours ago where a semi- heated debate about Barrack Obama & drug use were being talked about, ok, cool. Than I read the types of drugs he had used, and was like..... Say What? Alright, so he smoked a lil weed here & there, no big deal, so has President Bill Clinton: (but Bill didn't inhale!)
Apparently Barrack Obama used Marijuana & Cocaine in the past. WTF? Are you kidding me?
Not Guilty-The Beatles ded: Barrack Obama
What is wrong with this picture? Yes, I can see regular ol people and musicians using drugs, NOT a Presdiental hopeful, not someone trying to become the President of the US?
*
*
Sure The Beatles used drugs and so did many other musicians, it was widly acceptable in the 60's, right? Hey, alot of great talent have died as a result, but does anyone bat an eyelash? hell no. What makes Obama credible now? How can he write laws and implement them without being a hypocrite? this reaks of hypocricy.

Should he be exempt now, heres a
"Get out of Jail Free card" why? because Obama is running for President of the United states?
silent laugh, or does it depend on your station in life, to what'is acceptable?
No, c'mon he wears a suit, he's a Senator, does this make him believable? he talks huge game, yeah he's "not guilty"....... bullchips!
Look at all the damn people locked up behind drug use....dang! I suppose if they had big bank or running for office they'd be let off too or forgiven.
Look at all the damn people locked up behind drug use....dang! I suppose if they had big bank or running for office they'd be let off too or forgiven.
My question is this, how many times did Barrack use cocaine? was he ever in a hotel room with a prostitue under the influence? How many times did he buy cocaine? Is Obama aquainted with Marion Barry?
To each his own I say, but NOT when it comes to running for President of The United States. Everyday, people get slammed for using drugs and so should a public official, if not more.
He's not off the hook in my books...I don't care what he is trying to sell, I'm not buying it, what a joke.
One last thought, I did think of posting "Rehab" vid but, nahh....lol
comments anyone?
sheesh I believe Barrack Obama is a slick, lying, deviant, don't be fooled people~yep!

Superbowl Sunday!

Superbowl Sunday!
Ok kids it's Superbowl Sunday! lets just cut to the chase, alright. I'm going with the underdogs The New York Giant's, on this one.
The New England Patriot's have had their day in the sun, now it's the Giant's time to shine, if I had to choose.
Yes, Tom Brady is the local boy from my own home town, but I still have to go with the Giant's.
I'm a Raider/Steelers fan and my Steve is a 49er fan. Real tho-I donot want the Pats to touch the 49er's & Bill Walsh's Superbowl legacy, well, I hope they don't catch em. If they do, good for em. and they'll deserve it.
lol back later for more.
Go Giants!
ok highlights for me so far
1. Russel Crowe and his tribute to perfection, that was brillant, he even included the Beatles lol
2. Frank Caliendo, this guys kicks ass!~ " The Giants are usually full of bull, but today they are full of the Superbowl", no he didn't?
3. Ok am I the only one who noticed that Jordan Sparks lip sang the Star Spangled Banner, what's up with that, that's almost sacreligious?
4. Tribute to Bill Walsh, that's nice~ LOVE Ronnie Lot even tho he was a 49er!~ lol
I'm tailights
5, Sack sack sack sack Brady, dannnng!
Wtf! Oh man I was praying hard on that last drive the Giants made that happen THEY deserve to win. excellant defense.
Yea! The GIANTS won the freakin Superbowl!!!! woooohooooooo I called it and a righteous win for the Giants that was, they played a brillant game with alot of heart!

Hillary Clinton National Town hall meeting
Hillary Clinton National Town hall meeting
Check this out, this is cool, ask Hillary a question.
On Monday, February 4, Hillary will answer Americans' questions in an unprecedented national town hall giving voters in Super Tuesday states the chance to make their voices heard.
The town hall will air on Hallmark Channel and be streamed online at HillaryClinton.com. Hillary will anchor the town hall in New York, while President Bill Clinton, Chelsea Clinton, and national and local surrogates will serve as hosts at events in the other states.
Do you have a question for Hillary? Submit it by completing the form on the right, and you could travel to New York to ask Hillary your question -- in person. The campaign will pick one person to go to the town hall to ask their question and meet Hillary backstage after the event! click here
ok, so you know Harleyblues has a question for Hillary and here it is:
Hello Hillary
"besides the current issues we are facing in America, how will you go about bridging the gap between the the Rich & the dwindling Middle class who are now becoming the working poor at a staggering rate who also are living, pay check to pay check?"
This IS my biggest concern, besides the current issues you have spoken about America is now facing.
Respectfully,
Christina Giannoni
Sunnyvale, Ca
ps. I am posting this question on my blog also Sir Paul McCartney & The Beatles guest band Purplemelon.
Shoot, I'd still like to ask Bill Clinton a question about Paul McCartney...hehehehe
No they didn't compare Cyrus to the Beatles?
No they didn't compare Cyrus to the Beatles ?
Did Good Morning America actually ask the question if Mylie Cyrus is the next big thing to the Beatles the other day?
Say what? I did a double take when I heard this via TV. Can you say bullchips, are they kiding me? ha, there is no freakin comparison, obviously producders at GMA are tone deaf.
If you do not know who Mylie is (I hadn't either until just recently, they are pimpin promo about this girl all over the place) she is the daughter of Billie Ray Cyrus, a country singer of sorts who appeared on Danicing with the Stars most recently.
The Beatles- a Melody
The only ones that could possible be compared to the Beatles is the Rolling Stones, period. Sheesh Britney Spears had a better voice and stage presence than this girl at this age just keepin it real, you know I'm speaking the truth .
Rolling Stones- Paint it black
If you wanna make comparisons, compare this girlie to someone in the same genere, not the Beatles. The Beatles changed the world, the face of music, lets not forget the musical genius of the fab four just for starters..
Mylie Cyrus is a manufactured bubble gum pop girl. I'm not even going to post a vid of Cyrus just in case you thought I might, but will of The Beatles & The Stones
Let's take it back some.
