The 'PURPLE 4 PINK' Online Rock Auction
WIN A ROCK BAND - For Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
Purplemelon, the rock group recently named London's best-looking new band, are putting themselves up for sale to the girls.
The four-man band is to auction itself to raise funds and awareness for Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
As Breast Cancer Awareness Month hits the UK in October, Purplemelon's Tom Hill, Eric Joyce, Windsor McGilvray and Owen Barry are putting their music and their dating services up for grabs to the highest bidders in the PURPLE 4 PINK auction.
The online charity auction will take bids for four Lots: on Facebook at the PURPLE 4 PINK group site and on MySpace at www.myspace.com/knowmeinthefuture
All money will go to Breakthrough Breast Cancer. Highest bids win the following lots:
LOT 4 - Two pairs of tickets to the prestigious and sold-out Pink Ribbon Ball at The Dorchester Hotel, London, on Oct. 6th. Two members of Purplemelon will be provided as partners with each pair of tickets. NB: This Lot will be drawn on Oct 3rd.
LOT 3 - Tickets and champagne for two at Purplemelon's packed-out gig at The Troubadour Club, Kensington, on Oct.11th. NB: This Lot will be drawn on Oct. 8th.
LOT 2 - A cameo role filmed with the band in the TV series 'This Is Purplemelon', now in production. NB: This Lot will be drawn on Oct. 31st.
LOT 1 - The Purplemelon rock band to perform exclusively for one hour at your own private party (birthday, Xmas, hen night, office do - what and when to be the choice of the winner).
CONSOLATION FUN LOT: For £5 a snog, girls can buy a backstage make-out with any member of Purplemelon at their Oct. 11th gig at The Troubadour Club (265 Old Brompton Road).
Purplemelon's lead singer Tom Hill explained: "I recently read that every day 100 women are diagnosed with breast cancer and I was shocked at the figure. Like a lot of guys, we in the band weren't as aware as we probably should have been about the extent of this dreadful disease; but now that we are we want to do our bit to help women - by selling ourselves.
"We don't mind making tarts of ourselves for such an important cause and we hope the girls will enjoy receiving the prizes as much as we will enjoy giving them".
Purplemelon are delighted to announce that the PURPLE 4 PINK auction has been approved and officially sanctioned by Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
Purplemelon are Tom Hill (20, lead vocals & guitar), Eric Joyce (19, bass), Windsor McGilvray (24, drums) and Owen Barry (25, lead guitar). The band was formed in the summer of 2006 and immediately made their mark by winning a four-month residency at the Barfly rock club in Birmingham. Purplemelon have been featured in Birmingham and national newspapers and on BBC and Kerrang! radio.
The band has also appeared on ITV news and has a fan following of more than 2,000 admirers - of which 70% are female. Now based in central London, Purplemelon play regularly at The Rock Garden, The Half Moon, Putney, and their monthly Purplemelon Parties at the legendary Troubadour Club in Kensington. The band is the subject of a forthcoming major TV series - "This Is Purplemelon" - currently being filmed over two years and directed by Andy Matthews, who won BAFTA and Grammy awards for the internationally-acclaimed TV series "The Beatles Anthology".
