Hello Verona!- Paul McCartney is- OUT THERE! part 2 Sound Check

note: long post
Italian Sign of The Out There Tour off the highway-Verona

Buongiorno, Italia! Gig day-    at the Coliseum...such a lovely & beautiful morning . Sky's clear no chance of rain..like it rained on us girls-- waiting for Paul in Warsaw.. NICE!  (  We don't want to ruin our hair ).. We were running late that day and almost missed the cab..

We went to the VIP entrance-- at 3pm..Tim from Event Travel-- announced it would be another half hour...that half hour turned to another hour than a bit past  5 pm... waiting on the steps of the sun was blistering hot!  --

I decided to sit at the cafe across.. the plaza.. drink some coffee.. huge lines were already forming and wondered ..how we were ever going to hear Sound-check? Apparently the rain stopped production of the stage being built ...I wondered if Paul McCartney was even in town yet?

I noticed the VIP line starting to move.. & rushed over ..It took forever to get into the venue.. there must have been 300 people standing inline getting their - Sound Check wrist bands-  gift bag- a nice bag- tee-shirt & tour program...

Me & sound checkers before the rain started Verona
we entered and it seemed as if we were in a cave... than were were let in.. we waited for Paul, Abe came out first.. the sky began to turn grey-- Tim was talking to all the Sound checkers
the sky became grey & cloudier ... It began to RAIN...

Tim ( Event Travel ) informed us if we wanted to go inside we could but we didn't want to loose our seats.. it rain & it rained some more a huge down pour! oh Hell NO! we all gather inside like squashed sardines- waiting for the rain to cease.. Would the sound Check go on as planned?..after 10-15 minutes.. the rain sub-sided to a drizzle.. We we back out.. a few minutes later out comes PAUL! YEAH!

Paul sound hello and spoke a bit of Italian... Midway thru Sound Check,  Paul, calls up some Italian fans on stage... Were they excited!! Paul liked their creative sign.... Us fans do all kinds of things to get his attention...and this sign was huge!! haha :)

Local Italian Fans up on stage w/ Paul McCartney during Sound Check - Take Off Your Shoes And Join US

.
So up they go! They go up Paul, asked them their names - one right after another and than says
"I'm Paul from Liverpool" haha Paul took off his shoes.. It was a great site .. Paul gave them hugs and off they were...I screamed " What About us Girls?" Paul, said back.."Oh Baby Baby" OK, I was gutted..I hafta admit- never would Paul meet "MACCA" hat girl.... I did have the sign I made - most likely too difficult to read - It was raining again- not pouring - Paul, did a lot of rain songs at this sound check My Valentine & Penny lane were 2..

Macca & that colorful guitar Verona Sound Check

More at Verona Sound check... It was great fun we danced the whole time.. Well, some of us did.. we didn't care about the rain.. each Sound check is with it's own unique experience.. Happy to have went & happy to see the Itallian guys go up on stage

But What about us GIRLS? What about us girls!! was Paul tiring of seeing us that follow him all over---haha at US.. You never know with these Sound Checks - or Live gigs

Sometimes they are pressed for time.. sometimes no one is called up during - SC or Live gigs.. i suppose it all depends on Paul McCartney himself-- on a whim? I'm guessing that might be it.. I don't believe these things are planned...

Those who get called up on stage whether it be a first time or 100th time is truly lucky.. & should enjoy the moment.. We hafta thank MPL for that making it happen.... wished the UK media gave him just as much love

Tons of fans dream of meeting Paul-- IT"S A HUGE DEAL -FOR US!!!!!

Paul is not only quit the musician, but charming & entertaining- his humor is great! I personally,.... Love that! - hugs Paul xx

Paul & Brian - giggin it- SC, Verona

So it was time to leave I didn;t want to freaking leave.. haha
we had to leave the venue and enter when it  was open to the public.. I found that odd - in Warsaw too.. We had to leave & "Hang Out" in the states-- we usually get drinks & some eats

So I left .. went across the street where I had my table reserved and who comes up to me?.. my friend from Switzerland - Yves Delasar- a huge musician from Switzerland .. Paul McCartney is a HUGE influence on his music.. He's also done some McCartney covers- which are excellent!

Me & Yvez~ Cafe in Plaza of Verona
I

I joined him & his wife Sarah.. Who is German and didn't speak a lick of  English.. It was a great time while waiting to get into the gig.. I had some excellent - pasta & claims and a not so excellent - pizza .. blah & boring ...

It was so great to meet Yves & Sarah after all these years ..
we laughed we drank & we spoke about who else?
PAUL MCCARTNEY!! his music & his life; and what Paul has done for this world.. God, it was so great sitting in the cafe in the plaza across the street from the oldest coliseum known to man...

Just knowing in a few wee hours we would be listening to Paul give a performance that would leave Italian fans speechless...

Next part 3 the gig!~ and lots of pics & surprise!! stay tuned

Mc :)

SEX AND DRUGS AND ROCKIN  n ROLL- I Love it! This ain't your grand mama's book,,,

So what's the book about?

a lonely and loveless fan of a rock star turns to blackmail
.
Sex and drugs and rock and roll as you've never read about them before - this time the FAN is the heroine in a roller coaster read of what happens when it all goes bottoms up in the music business.

Drawing on 30 years in tabloid journalism and music business PR, Geoff Baker creates a moving, entertaining [and utterly fictional] tale which reveals the damned life inside the celebrity circus - as Rock Bottom pokes holes in the pop culture of our age and gives a grim warning to those who dream of X-Factored fame.

PRESS RELEASE

BAKERBACK WRITER!
BEATLES EX-PR PUBLISHES
RUDE ROCK ‘N’ WOE BOOK

After a six-year struggle to get it into print, Geoff Baker - former PR to Paul McCartney, The Beatles and Oasis - is finally publishing his rude, racy and irreverent novel about the music industry.

Rock Bottom is Baker’s black-humored but fond satire which pokes a tongue behind the scenes and between the sheets at almost every aspect of the record business.

The first, limited edition of 1,000 copies will be available on Amazon from February 14th, priced £7.99. It will be published by Ragabond Press, a micro publisher that Baker set up with another former journalist, Jill Newton, after the UK’s mainstream publishers refused to touch his book.

Baker says Rock Bottom is ‘a work of complete and utter fiction’. The 400-page paperback romps and ruts through the conjoined stories of a flagging rock star, his demented PR and a blackmailing fan who threatens to ruin the pop idol’s reputation by unmasking a long-hidden sexual secret.

‘The star, Birmingham-born genius Ian Taylor, is not remotely based on anyone I’ve known,’ said Baker, ‘I made him up and he is as fictional as Henry the Horse who dances the waltz.’
Instead of writing about actual people I’ve worked with, it was more interesting for me to create fictional types of that rock world – the musicians, managers, record company execs – and to have a laugh at what fame can do to people and how it can disastrously affect those who work around the famous.

‘But what was of most interest to me was to make the fan the central character of the book; the fans’ feelings are often overlooked in the music game so I made the fan the heroine for a change.

‘Rock Bottom is basically a celebrity love story, but it’s quite sad in parts – rock ‘n woe, we call it. It is also the flipside of The X-Factor, revealing the madness and misery of making it big, so in some ways it’s a cautionary tale for those who long to see their name in lights.

MORE
‘The book is also rather rude. We were thinking of having a Parental Advisory sticker on it as the vernacular of the business is certainly not kids’ stuff and as a word search revealed there are 864 f-words in the book those who dislike bad language might be better off reading Trainspotting instead.’

Although Ian Taylor’s genius but mercurial temperament was drawn from Baker’s imagination,
he admits that various journalist characters who play supporting roles in the lurid drama were partly inspired by old pals from his newspaper days on Fleet Street.

‘I’ll be interested to see if any mates from the hack pack that I used to run with recognize anything of themselves in the book,’ said Baker, 54, ‘A number of them are editors now.’

It has taken Baker more than six years to publish his novel.

‘I wrote the original story in three months, back in 2004. I got a leading literary agent and he enthusiastically sent the manuscript to every major publisher – but none of them would touch it with a bargepole. Four years of rewrites followed, my funds ran out and if it hadn’t been for the support and belief of my wife Amanda throughout it all, I’d be rotting in debtor’s prison.’

‘Pissed off but unbowed’, Baker and Newton – an old Lyme Regis school pal  - formed their own micro publishing company, Ragabond Press.

‘Jill and I re-met by chance after having not seen each other for more than 35 years. We talked about the book and realized that as she was trained as an editor and a sub and I was trained as a hack, maybe we could combine our skills for the book’ said Baker.

‘So between us we took on every aspect of getting a book done – editing, proofing, type-setting, layout, design, photography, distribution, marketing, PR, the lot.’
Now Ragabond Press, which is based in Newton and Baker’s home town of Lyme Regis, has seven self-penned books in production and is considering publishing other writers.

‘Rock Bottom comes out on Amazon on February 14 and we’re going to take several months to slowly plug it, just like I used to with a rock album,’ said Baker, whose next project is Ragabond Press’s The Beatles Fanthology, the story of the Fab Four told through the memories and stories of Beatles fans.

Ex-Macca Rep To Write The Beatles Fanthology

#
Please-Stumble or Digg it! TY~

OK, alright!! Geoff Baker, too write a Beatles Book about the Fans~ see Press Release below~ You freakin Go Geoff~ woohoo!!~

GEOFF BAKER
PR for Linda McCartney 1990-1998
PR for Paul McCartney 1989-2004
PR for Apple Corps 1995-2004
FAN-MEDIA RELEASE
EX-MACCA REP TO WRITE THE BEATLES FANTHOLOGY
with a little help from their friends
Geoff Baker, former PR to Linda and Paul McCartney and The Beatles, is to write a history of Beatles fans - using the fans' own words and calling it The Beatles Fanthology.
.
Baker, who worked at Apple Corps as press assistant under Derek Taylor on the actual Beatles Anthology projects, is asking Beatles fans around the globe to send him their stories, memories and moments about their love for the world's most-enduring rock band.

Baker will edit anecdotes and observations from the fans into the first full and illustrated biography of The Beatles fan phenomenon.

'I have a lot of respect for them, there is absolutely nothing like a Beatles fan and I love 'em,' said Baker, who worked for 15 years as Paul McCartney's publicity chief.

'The fans made the band and they have continued to make the band through five decades - but I feel their crucial side of the story that Derek called 'the 20th century's greatest romance' has never been told properly before. I'm reasonably qualified to write this book and it is the only Beatles book that I shall ever write.'

Baker said he was spurred to do the book after attending the Beatles Week festival in Liverpool and after a Beatles fan wrote to him and suggested that he did it.

'I've always been fascinated by the fans. I did three world tours with Paul McCartney and on each one it was the dancing fans with their cheeky banners, friendly faces and expert knowledge who made each show a smash.
I have no interest in the posh people who buy the expensive seats and then just sit in them throughout the gig.

'The kind of things I'm interested in are what was it like for a Beatles fan in the Sixties, what was it like seeing them in Liverpool, what's it like being a Beatles fan now, what's it like having a son as a Beatles fan, or a grand-daughter, what's special about them above every other band, how did they affect your life -
I want to know what the fans think about The Beatles, not the biographers' opinion or the critics', the fans. Other than forever admiring their screaming, we've not paid enough attention to their voice.'
Baker is asking fans who want to put their voice in the book to tell him their stories - by email to geoffbaker@beatlesfanthology.com
.
'I want to cover the whole Beatles period, from the beginning of the birth of the band in 1957 up to the current day. The fans can send me as much or as little as they like. Email me pix or anything they want, but don't send me originals because everybody knows I'll lose them,' said Baker.
'I'm looking for those little moments that may be personal to one but will be understood by us all. I want to get in as many voices as possible from as many places as possible.'

Although Baker has been kicking fan-related book ideas around in himself for years, it was his business partner Jill Newton who came up with the name The Beatles Fanthology after the fan's prompt. The pair, both former journalists, recently formed a books-writing partnership, Newton & Baker Books. The Fanthology will be their fourth book currently in production.

Sunday July 11th 9:50 pm

Whew, just woke up after getting home earlier today; an exciting and interesting Macca gig this time around- off to bed as work calls in the am. Sound check, was brilliant at AT&T Park! Paul is very funny. Camera didn't die this time around-will update tomorrow..

San Francisco Sound check
well I managed to take a lil over 100 piccie's let's see how many turned out? This was suppose to be a great gig, getting the sound check package- things actually didn't happen, as expected.. What was great, the sound check...Paul's banter and humor; Paul and the band jamming songs..

It was a hot summer day when we were finally ushered out onto the field to hear the Sound check..
Before, Paul arrived-

Cool to meet Wix!
"WIX" came around and walked thru the soundcheckers- one fan asked for a piccie as did I; this was a first time, ever meeting Wix. He was very gracious & a gentlemen. I shook his hand and said "Hi Wix, I'm McCartney" - with the black Macca hat. It sat on the chair, as we both looked too the chair. The look on his
face was priceless..I might have surprised him a bit, with the McCartney name- hehehe It was great to meet Wix. :) Now, If I can only meet Abe & paul...:) psst. Wix, has soft hands~ :)

Paul finally arrived..
Paul was in rare form, as always. We all greeted Macca with cheers and excitement! all done up with sunglasses and all, Paul and the band ( with sunglasses ) began their mini jam session.
.
Paul welcomed us and asked 'where the flowers were in our hair?' hahahaha- Paul jammed, San Francisco Bay Blues - Ram On- Every night- Sea Melody~to name a few.. Paul, than spoke to us.
a Sign _ I see- I LOVE THAT SONG!~
..
" I LOVE THAT SONG. I love that song, you love that song~
Thank you, for all your support - and your ~ HAT!!!"

said Paul McCartney. Did Paul say anything else, did I miss a thing? as I held up the sign- blowing in my face, I laughed. Paul made me laugh and I was trying to get him and the band to laugh! I held up the sign, each time, Paul, started a new song.. Wow, coolio.. Would Paul get the sign this time?

Note: we're are all great fans of Paul McCartney ~ Me, just one in a million~
.
Second time Macca had spoken to me from the stage at sound check.. first time in Dallas- That was FUN also.. Paul just thanked me?! ahh.. Wow, trip! I don't think he could see the sign clearly I wasn't sure..I wanted him to "try on - the hat".. I knew it was slim chance but,
.
I have worn this 'MACCA hat' to over 30 gigs so far - it has traveled alot of miles- with me... I than wanted to make sure I could remember what Paul had said..? my mind raced quickly~
.
NO, Thank you Paul! For all the music..I tried, to shout back!~ Paul, than mentioned an 8 year old girl was in the group today along with an 80 year old man who's birthday was today ? all ages.~ here today ..he than read BeatleBarbs sign- not sure what it said..something about the Beatles~ ? as he mentioned years~ I couldn't hear what he said clearly~

note: the 2nd half of this blog post is difficult to write: it started off as a great day - than went bad- all bad before the gig started!~ sigh! Some reason I cann
ot upload foto's again ..I will in the days to come.. We were lead to the Vip lounge and had a great veggie dinner. Yum!

what about security?~
Soon to our seats...Well, I went to sit down.. and obviously the 5th row had too much 'party' many drunk.. I got yelled at about wearing my hat. I was in the 4th row..I didn't say a thing. a couple, were kicking my chair and yelling, cussing in my ear along with the guy next to me; who was part of the VIP soundcheck- I felt very bad for him.. the couple became threatening- So I went to security; One of Paul's head security was too busy doing stuff when I tried to ask for some help..the head security of AT&T park talked to the couple and informed them if they kept up they would be thrown out.. he meant business~
.
This couple was arguing with security. I didn't say a word. ..Are you kidding me? In all the gigs I have been too, I had never had a problem. if that wasn't bad enough, a huge guy next to the couple got in on the action.. Yelling and cussing at me thru-out the gig.. I didn't know what to do?.. there was a fan over 6 ft tall, who stood in front of me the whole time taking piccies- nothing else and I had to duck and dodge trying to get a view..
While trying to help a woman get a view to take pics herself... I hope MPL gets wind somehow, on the possible dangers for woman solo fans- at Paul McCartney's upcoming gigs~ being harrassed.. and lookout for us in those first few rows... is this at all possible?!
.
Female Fans Safety~
I wasn't sure whether to call security again and I worried that if they, had, come to talk to this drunk man- and left - he might hit me or something? he kept pushing me- saying foul things and I finally turned around and gave him a dirty look- During 1985- I put my hat on and he said "Bitch I can't see" - he was huge. He took my hat and hid it underneath a chair...wow~ this same guy was even bothering me before the gig started, along with the ranting couple- asking about after party's and if I had any weed?..

Every time, I attempted to hold up my banner. Whamo! I was hit in the right arm..We pay alot of money to be in these seats, to have a beautiful time, and at $1500 the 2nd half of my night was ruined as I had to deal - with screaming, harassing drunks .. It was hard to focus on the gig..I was concerned for my personal safety...I never want to go through that again..I want to enjoy Paul McCartney & his band!

If you can't handle alcohol- don't drink - that's right~
McCartney/hb

Paul McCartney Owes No one a damn Apology!

Paul McCartney Owes No one a damn Apology!

Hey kids. I wasn't gonna do it; I wasn't going to say a thing; but this nitpicking and back lashing of Paul McCartney & President Barrack Obama is a bunch of non-sense crap.. splattered on Fox News, You tube, Macca's Official webby and lil pockets here and there..regarding his joke; when receiving his Gershwin prize..

Can anyone get a sense of freaking humor here in middle America? namely you conservative, hypocrites; who like to bash anyone with a sense of Justice, Intelligence, Wit and Democratic values of the people.. Who knows what John Lennon or George Harrison would think?-
I' believe they would say the same kinda thing- perhaps adding to Paul's snippet. God only knows, had Paul, said something controversial- What kind of blubbering out cry there would be~ and this was just a quaint lil joke - by a Beatle, a Legend, a Poet, Artist, Activist, Father - "Macca" Paul is no freakin slouch..

Put your big boy & girl pants on.. start with a daily mantra ..of?

"oh you're so shocked & offended" by Paul's innocent joke~
Go live in Siberia if you're so easily offended.. or communist China- or Korea. are you so thinned skinned? You give the decent conservatives a bad name.. How embarrassing- all the hate you are spewing- Get a clue , Get a grip & Get a life! I'm grateful I do not share in your narrow minded, elitist attitudes~

Live & Let Die Hollywood Bowl 2010
Go blow off some steam by doing some jumping jacks or something ha!

You want an Apology?
Too every pissed off Conservative...
Let's see.. perhaps Macca would consider an apology; when George W. Bush apologizes too The American people, and The World- for the War in Iraq- Lying, & more lying and deceiving - the people;.. leaving this country in shambles for our current President, Barrack Obama, to clean up the mess,... only than ..
maybe.. just maybe... Paul would.. apologize....nahh.. no way!

The innocence of a wee joke.. spurs out rage by the Right . amazing!!

Sorry, you didn't win The White House... that would be a winner, right? Sarah Palin and her pyscho-ness- yeah, just what America needs...

Would there be a difference If  'A Republican' were sitting in Office, and Paul had made the comment about a Democrat? hardly~ Your Mamma's should be ashamed of the fucked up off spring they raised, that's right. You're the ones with no manners or class. You preach hate & war; some of you claiming you're God fearing people- riggght..

Are there not more important issues to worry about in this world- than what Paul McCartney said about a former President? it was his night accepting his Gershwin award. Let him have his day- you attempt to ruin it with political rants and verbal lynchings..

I'm really put off by all the foul- salty posts; your inaccurate, poor news reporting, ie FOX news, you tube vid messages and any, other way, you can find- dissing- Paul McCartney & President Obama, Demanding apologies..

Paul McCartney doesn't owe you a damn thing!

Face book page: Paul doesn't owe anyone an Apology

have a comment, please feel free to leave one
to be con..I just might add more later...M.

Hello, my friends, Just a quick word before I head out to rehearse for a show at THE WHITE HOUSE {!!!} Ok, it’s not often you get to say that, right?...

I am so honored to have this opportunity to play with Paul for the President and
his wife, as well as most members of the US Senate. Paul is being honored and
awarded the Gershwin Award for songwriting. This isonly the third time in
history the award has been given and it is most deserved, isn’t it?
Right on Brian!!

Hey you News Orgs Paul McCartney's biggest regret wasn't marrying Heather it was the War!!!

Macca.com

'It’s happened before and it will happen again…the inaccurate article in the Mirror today entitled “Macca marriage to Heather was mistake of the decade” is the most recent example of how things get twisted in the press. So just for the record, here’s the original interview from Q Magazine and as you can plainly see, what Paul actually said has been taken totally out of context.'

hb: Geeez !!! I read that shit yesterday online. I thought to myself. No way, Paul McCartney, would say something like this .. Really.. He is just too dignified to say something trashy and mean spirited like this . C'mon, he loved Heather, at one time and they had Beatrice...It's unfortunate some things just don't work out for whatever reasons they may be. and those reasons, are, between Paul & Heather.

Paul McCartney clearly states- when asked the question "the war" was the worst thing that has happened this century.

A retraction from the various news organizations around the world would be great along with an apology to Paul McCartney, in print, since, everyone, is in such haste to print such bullshit. But who's got the ball's to do that apologize to Paul McCartney & Heather ...hum? Go ahead run with it or are you sticking with your story? ha!

snippets form Q mag:

Q What's been the best things about this century?

PM I have to say just being with my children. And having a new girlfriend. That's very nice, thank you. And getting the opportunity to play the gigs we've been playing. I realized the other day I've been playing with my band now for nine or ten years, or something. So it's like, "God, that's almost as long as I played with The Beatles."

Q And the worst?

PM The war.

Q You witnessed the 9/11 attacks while sitting in a plane on the tarmac at JFK airport. What did you actually see?

PM A plume of black smoke coming from the first tower, stretching out to the left as we looked at it. Then it suddenly appeared like the other tower was also on fire. I wasn't sure whether it was an illusion at first. Then the stewards gave us the news that there'd been an attack on the Pentagon and that both those towers had been hit. That made the whole thing very serious.

Q What's the one thing you wish you'd done but didn't this decade?

PM Nothing, I don't think. I've managed to feel quite fulfilled this decade. If I hadn't done The Fireman, I think I would wish I'd done that because it freshened ideas up for me.

Q And the one thing you did but wish you hadn't?

PM Ha ha! Oh God, I dunno. Well, I did wish I didn't...not really....can't think of any.

Q There is one obvious one...

PM What are you saying?

Q Getting married again...

PM (Laughs) OK, yeah, I suppose that has to be the prime contender. But I don't wanna down anyone. These things happen, y'know? But I tend to look at the positive side, which is that I have another beautiful daughter out of it.

hb: Where in the world does it say Macca's biggest regret is marrying Heather?

hb: Sheesh, can't the media ever get it straight. There are some goodins Lot's of great reads & interviews out there.. A lil investigation & work on the media's part would help in the printing of facts. & Truth of News.. what a concept?!

Thanx MPL
