Brian Ray releases 2nd album "This Way Up"

Hey people- home illin today. The good news is, Brian Ray releases new album:
"This Way Up" for pre- order. Official release Aug 9th..
.
Brian Ray's 1st album Mondo Magneto a huge success! and one to add to your cd collection.if you don't already own...
Brian Ray, guitarist & sometimes bass player has been playing with Paul McCartney, for what now? 10 years.close to it.damn..what a gig to have!..This Way UP- Brian's 2nd album 2 years in the making - Why? cos he's been touring with Paul McCartney..yeah!

There are several options to choose; from the straight shot, This Way Up- cd to the LUX, Deluxe version..
( I chose the Deluxe version myself..) you can also order tee's and other goodies from his site!

say what tracks?
I'm digging on initial listen/run- thru- "Very Happy Song"- a happy, uplifting lil ditty to listen too, indeed- the opening remenicent of the Beatle's ala 1967 meloncholy, catchy lyrics, it seems Brian speaks to us about today's happenings in our world-and he gets it, knows it, as if to say- cheer up people, don't give up

( it's gonna get better! :) Sing along to this happy little song.. Than back to the Beatle's influence at the end.. exquisite guitars, and changes. Great drums. This song is for you- music cheers the soul.. well written, brilliant, song ..I do love this "Very Happy Song" miles of smiles..:)

"Miranda" another uplifting song. the 1st verse lovely. ( OK, I'm a chick I can say Lovely) A guy, who has lost a girl and perhaps he has made a mistake and wants here back; in his mind's eye he thinks of her often, and what could be again?.. the chorus of
"Hey Hey Hey- Hey Miranda" ( better days are just around the bend) is pretty infectious.. loud guitars in the middle, than end with a guitar slide and stroke of a piano key- that's it folks ..lol

"Camouflage" show me the real you.. put down the make- up & everything you think is you lol.. the lead up to the bridge with drums, guitars, & vocals, so smooth.. The bridge is totally off the hook! very catchy
"We are everything that we could ever be - we got everything that we ever will need..- we don't need-Camouflage" drums guitars, vocals all as one-wow~ dig it! smart lyrics some great lines in Camouflage. You're are gonna love this one...I do..

and The titled track "This Way Up" huge rockin guitars- reminds me of The Ramone's in parts~ It's hard to describe, This Way up other than - IT"S HUGE" you'll see after a few play thrus...can't wait to get 'This Way Up" in my hands..( more later)

This Way Up- sure not to disappoint, check it out.. The new album is great no wait!
It RAWKS what I've heard so far... very smart, clever lyrics thru-out - huge guitars- some key boards, drums on time & pounding!- Rolling Stone needs to do a review, yes?

to check out Brian Ray's new album and to order, click here for This Way Up details..

more later.

The Joint - Reviews and Reaction
.
"This crowd knew every note and every word by heart, but no one there had ever heard these songs played with such intensity""McCartney has his best band since, well, the Beatles, and they harmonized angelically and rocked ferociously""Hair-raising. Spine-tingling. Maybe I’m amazed."Las Vegas Sun"
.
McCartney remains a sharp and agile performer, his voice as supple, warm and elastic as ever.""Macca signatures Let It Be and The Long and Winding Road... still have the power to raise gooseflesh."USA Today"
"All You Need Is Paul''
"Vegas Correspondent Joan Myers Gets Blown Away by Macca at The Joint "
The energy at The Joint was like being at Bruce and U2 combined""The night was truly spectacular and took this fan on an emotional journey... Thanks, Sir Paul, for reminding me why I’m still in this biz…and feeling happy and fortunate to be here."Hits Daily Double
"The concert of a lifetime"Las Vegas Citylife
.
"What a clever idea -- revealing totally benign footage, nothing gameplay-related, as a surprise, knowing that it was going to spread virally all over YouTube and gaming forums over the weekend. Also illustrates just how seriously the band takes this game.""Man oh man, does Paul
McCartney still have it or what?"Wired.com"
.
"Festival goers at Coachella this weekend weren't only treated to Paul McCartney's hits-filled headlining set Friday night; they also unknowingly witnessed the debut of footage from the upcoming 'The Beatles: Rock Band', due out September 9th."Rolling Stone.com"
.
"In a world of shaky cams and YouTube, what happens on a rock-concert stage is going to reach the world. Over the weekend, the first video game footage from 'The Beatles: Rock Band' debuted in massive fashion as legendary Beatles bassist Paul McCartney rocked through a set with his band at California's Coachella music festival. The footage spread across the Internet, first as a rumor that the visuals behind McCartney were a hint of this September's MTV-backed 'Rock Band' spin-off. Later came confirmation on McCartney's website that this was, indeed, the most unusually staged debut of video game footage ever."MTV.com"

Great reviews from the media- Paul and the band sure did Rawk The Joint that's for sure!

Notes in Music-McCartney, Beatles, Electric Arguments, Rolling Stone, Ram On LA
Feb. 27th Fri. evening

Hey people how you doing this evening? This week in Notes in Music- (just in case you might have missed it somehow!) This will be a long post...Here are some happenings you might want to know about and check out...

Ram On LA-Tribute to Paul McCartney, Covers-Album cover right

Out Monday, free.....

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Aquarium Drunkard and Autumn Tone Records announce

Ram on L.A., a cover-compilation featuring 11 of L.A.’s favorite bands – digitally available on Monday, March 2nd
“Los Angeles: huge, sprawling, and eclectic, has been likened to microcosm of the country as whole -- truly a melting pot of various cultures, ethnicities, tastes and influences. So is her music. With various scenes and sub-scenes, rarely has there been a defining "sound" that marks the overall zeitgeist of what is happening in the city at any one time. In 2008 I set out to create a compilation of a dozen or so L.A. based artists that I felt were creating something both unique and diverse. After some thought I decided that there needed to be a running theme, something to tie the artists together into a cohesive whole, a common bond.
As records tend to do, a revisited appreciation of Paul McCartney's 1971 solo album, RAM, had begun to see a resurgence of sorts within a number of local Eastside artists, coming up in conversations and on the turntables of various house parties.

The theme was found Over the course of the second half of 2008 eleven Angeleno artists individually went in to various studios, rehearsal spaces and apartments to record their take on what is my favorite, and arguably, McCartney's best solo work.... the end result is RAM On L.A.”
Justin Gage

Founder

Aquarium Drunkard/Autumn Tone Records

Released as a high-quality 320kbs MP3 digital download via Aquarium Drunkard's label, Autumn Tone Records, the not-for-profit compilation is free for download at www.aquariumdrunkard.com. Listeners are encouraged to make donations to No More Landmines (http://www.landmines.org.uk), the fantastic cause that "helps and empowers communities around the world by removing the threat of landmines and unexploded weapons." A cause championed by Sir Paul McCartney himself.

With a truly diverse lineup, comprised of both Los Angeles scene stalwarts and new faces alike, listeners get to sample a slice of the present "sound" of Los Angeles, while revisiting one of if not, the best solo effort by one of the greatest artists of the last five decades. Every penny of donations from listeners will go directly to No More Landmines

Electric Arguments Deluxe set-late
What in the world? Last night, I had posted on Macca's webby, asking about my Electric Arguments Deluxe box set, I ordered last Nov.
One of the mods informed me another webby claimed the Deluxe sets were going to be made available in mid-April? Say Whaa? Ok than, why were we not informed and shown some love via email on the delay?
It was also stated that the new Deluxe Electric Arguments sets would have a few more goodies added to those who purchased em?
Don't know if that is true or not? I just think it a bit odd we were not informed. Now, this is taking an entire 5 mos. to receive my Macca music? lmao!

A few hundred hopefuls had lined up on Hollywood and Vine hours in advance, knowing full well that it would be a very long wait". hb: damn! I would have loved to be at that gig~you know that was a happening!

Paul McCartney's in Rolling Stone mag this month
Friday Evening Jan 9th

Macca talks to Rolling Stone mag about Electric Arguments. In the new issue==
(on newsstands everywhere today!), Paul McCartney opens up about the Fireman, his low-key experimental side project with British producer Youth. article here
there is a small Q&A with Paul..(I was disappointed a bit- I thought it would be longer)

A side note: Rolling Stone, didn't even bother to give Electric Arguments, a top 50 spot of 2008's top albums of the year per them. What's up with that? Instead, they choose the likes of the Jonas Bros? & Taylor Swift?....like I said, What the? The list sux in my opinion...

Whatever happened to the greatness and edge of Rolling Stone magazine? me thinks they need to get back to cutting edge music. OK.. R-E-A-L music & articles-than, slash all that wasted crap advertising space, which takes up, entire pages.. (very annoying) Forget the pop culture stuff..Leave that, to other mags.. Rolling Stone is suppose to be the Holy Grail, of all music magazines... this is what I think when I say" Rolling Stone" C'mon guys, get back to your hip roots and greatness..

The Love generation

The Love Generation?
More like the love me generationBefore we get misty-eyed about the right-on 60s, we shouldn't forget what a small jump it turned out to be from hippie to yuppie John HarrisSaturday May 19, 2007The Guardian

In just over a fortnight, it will be 40 years since the release of The Beatles' Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Teary-eyed baby boomers will presumably get out their vinyl copies for a Proustian spin, and perhaps wonder where all that peace, love and understanding went, a question that has been hanging around for almost as long as the record itself. Paul McCartney once related the tale of being cornered by a crestfallen hippie in 1972: "God, man, around the time of Sgt Pepper, we really thought it was going to change the world," he was told. "What happened?"Publish Post
